Director of the Wuppertal Opera in Germany (from the season 2023/2024)
Rebekah Rota has over 25 years international theater experience on and behind the stage. She has sung more than 40 roles in the soprano repertoire, from Blonde to Violetta and Mimì, at theaters such as the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées and the Michigan Opera Theater.
As stage director, she achieved international success with her staging of “The Diary of Anne Frank” at the The Krzysztof Penderecki International Festival in Zabrze, Poland. She is regularly invited to give master classes and adjudicate on voice competitions.
Rebekah Rota is the designated Intendant of the Opernhaus Wuppertal, beginning August 2023. From 2020-2022, she was the Deputy Artistic Director and Opera Manager at the Baden State Theater Karlsruhe. The US-American received her Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Michigan, where she studied with Grammy-Award winner Prof. Lorna Haywood.
