Dr. Rebekah Rota is Deputy Director of Opera at the Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe. The native Californian received her Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Michigan, where she studied with Grammy-Award winning soprano, Prof. Lorna Haywood.
Rebekah Rota brings more than 25 years international theater experience working on and behind the stage. In her career as singer, she performed more than 40 roles ranging from Blondchen to Violetta and Mimi at theaters such as the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées and the Michigan Opera Theater. As stage director, she was recognized for her stagings of „The Diary of Anne Frank” at the International Penderecki Festival in Zabrze and „Così fan tutte” with the Michigan Opera, among others. She is regularly sought after for master classes at programs such as the Dutch National Opera Academy, Berlin Opera Academy, Lotte Lehmann Academy, etc. Rebekah was a member of the opera direction at the Landesbühnen Sachsen for two and a half seasons prior to her appointment in Karlsruhe.
