Programme of the 21st Edition of the Competition

The competition auditions will be held at the venue of the event’s organizer – the SOKÓŁ Malopolska Culture Centre in Nowy Sącz. The first stage is scheduled for May 18th–19th. The second stage, which includes the Song Competition, will take place on May 20th and 21st, while the final presentations and the Winners’ Concert, during which the best singers will be accompanied by the Kraków Opera Orchestra conducted by Marta Kluczyńska, will be held on May 23rd and 24th.

All the competition auditions can be followed live on the website adasari.pl, and the final, i.e., the third stage of the competition, will also be available on the international platform operavision.eu, offering free live streams and replays of the most famous operas from major stages across Europe and beyond.

This year’s edition will feature singers from 15 countries, including 23 representatives from Poland. The participants are predominantly sopranos (32 singers), but there will also be mezzo-sopranos, tenors, baritones, and basses. The Ada Sari Competition has long been a gateway to an international career – past laureates include Piotr Beczała, Andrzej Dobber, and Hanna-Elisabeth Müller.

On May 22nd, a special concert will be held in honor of one of the greatest figures in the history of vocal art, and also the patron of the competition – Ada Sari, as well as the initiator and long-time Artistic Director of the event, Prof. Helena Łazarska. The concert will feature laureates of previous editions: Adriana Ferfecka, Aleksandra Kubas-Kruk, Gabriela Legun, and Hanna Okońska, accompanied by pianist Manfred Schiebel. The concert will be hosted by Anna Woźniakowska, and the program will include works by Mozart, Rossini, Verdi, and Moniuszko.

The competition is held under the honorary patronage of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage Hanna Wróblewska and the Deputy Marshal of the Małopolskie Voivodeship Witold Kozłowski, and is co-financed by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage from the Culture Promotion Fund – a state special-purpose fund, as part of the “Music” program, implemented by the National Institute of Music and Dance.
